Here is my last update of the year and before my fight with Hong-Man Choi. I’m happy to once again fight in Japan against a strong opponent and see my fans again.

I’m in Tokyo already together with my friend Roman Zentsov. We had not seen each other for quite a while as he was training for NYE in St. Petersburg and I was in Stary Oskol. Over the last week we made final preparation as usual for my fight. This means once a day training as all the basic work has already been done. Focus is
on speed and endurance.

Now that this NYE event is taking place I get more and more questions about future opponents. My management told me that Sem Schilt announced in a Dutch newspaper that he might stop with K-1 and go back to MMA and would like to fight me. We had our first bout in 2002 and in the meantime Sem is three time K-1 champion. Also people ask me if I would like to fight Randy Couture. I have a lot of respect for all fighters. If they want to fight me and the opportunity is there, it will be my honor to accept the challenge.

I look forward to upcoming tournaments, not only for myself but also for some of my students. There are some strong fighters amongst them and when the right tournament comes along they are ready to compete. In the meantime we will continue training. There are a lot of specialist training opportunities out there. Next year I will
hopefully travel to Holland and train with Ernesto Hoost and Peter Aerts on stand up skills. These are great opportunities and I always enjoy going there.

For now I will just focus on my NYE fight and finish my training schedule and preparations. You will hear from me again in the new year!
