MMA Prospect of the Day: Jared Rosholt

Jared 'The Big Show' Rosholt is one of the most promising heavyweights in the landscape of his division. Great size, speed, and work ethic enabled him to become a 3x NCAA wrestling All American. He is currently holding a record of 5-1 with 4 finishes! Rosholt trains out of Team Takedown.


Jared 'The Big Show' Rosholt is the younger brother to UFC vet Jake Rosholt. Jared wrestled at Oklahoma State where he become one of the top HWT's in the country. He was a 3x AA and the 2010 NCAA runner-up. Like his brother, Jared signed with Team Takedown after college and started to embark on his MMA journey.

The Big Show's vast wrestling experience is obvious his means to victory inside the cage. His top control and GnP are very powerful. Not many people on the regional circuit will be able to handle the wrestling base Rosholt brings.


His submission game is improving. He earned a keylock victory in his 2nd pro fight. Hopefully in the future we'll see a more versed top game out of him. His powerful GnP is fun to watch, but a more well rounded game will take Jared far.

The only minor weak point in Rosholt's game is his stand up. Like many wrestlers, this is the hardest transition. His only lost in his career was to fellow top prospect Derrick Lewis (9-2). After controlling Lewis for the whole first round, Rosholt got clipped and Lewis jumped on him. He'll need to develop his defensive boxing skills, i'm sure Marc Laimon and crew are already on it.

The sky is the limit potential wise for Rosholt. There has been many NCAA AA's and champions that have gone on to have successful careers in MMA. I don't see it being any different for Jared.

Jiu Jitsu: B+...Solid base and very aggressive
UFC Ready: Soon. His skillset would fare well in the UFC. It's lacking talented HWT's and Rosholt could help fill that void. Once he shows improved striking and strings together a streak, Joe Silva will be calling.
